Darcy's Bontanicals Review

So this review starts off with a little anecdote, last spring I went to the 2010 natural hair expo in Atlanta Georgia, and of course I had a blast, but nevertheless I was on my search for a "perfect" twisting cream. I walked around the whole expo twice before purchasing any items. BIG MISTAKE, I walk around before purchasing for two reasons 1) To make sure I visited every booth, and 2) To hear the reviews of the booths from the other lovely ladies at the expo.

When I got back around to the Darcy's Botanicals Booth, they were sold out of the twisting cream I wanted but I received a coupon code to use online and I picked up Darcy's Bontanicals Peach Kernel Hydrating Milk, which leads me into the first review:

Darcy's Bontanicals Peach Kernel Hydrating Milk:
When I say I love this product I mean I love this Product, It takes a lot for me to love a product due to the fact that I usually have unrealistic ideas about a product but this milk took the cake for me. 1) I first tried it as a leave in under Uncle Funky's Daughter Curly Magic, and my WnG's not only lasted a while, but stayed moisturized through the style 2) I also tried it as a refresher for my twist outs, it kept my twist out looking nice while keeping it 3) and lastly a couple times I used just to twist my hair

The Hydrating Milk comes in 8oz bottle for 12 dollars, The ingredients include: Distilled Water, Aloe Vera Leaf Juice, Peach Kernel Oil, Organic Virgin Coconut Oil, Organic Jojoba Oil, and more. The milk moisturized when needed and was not greasy at all, and a little goes a long way, In my opinion you get your bang for you buck. And Lets not forget this product smells awesome!!!! :)

I actually liked this product so much that it led me to purchase the next three, the Madagascar Vanilla Styling Creme, The Avocado and Honey Twisting Cream, and the Juicy Peach Daily Leave-in Conditioner. Now I'll do these products in order in which I've used the most.

Avocado and Honey Twisting Cream; So in order to know if you like a product you need to know two things 1) What does your hair like? and 2) What do you want out of a product?
my answers to those questions are, my hair likes a thick water based cream, and what I want out of a twisting cream is something that moisturizes while giving me a defined twist out,and something that keeps my twists intact throughout the week or weeks that I keep them in. and if you ask me if this cream satisfies my needs I'm gonna say well...yes and no......

When I received the box in the mail housing my awaited Darcy's botanical goody's the first thing I did was smell them all now to say the least the twisting cream didn't smell as sweet as the hydrating milk it has a hint on honey smell but it was more on the musky side in my opinion. Now the great thing about this cream is that I got killer twist-outs from it, I got twist-outs that lasted for a week and if I wanted it could even last a little longer. Now the Downside this product gave my hair a greasy feeling more than a moisturized feeling, in fact when I rub my hands in my hair, my hands comes out greasy, and after a fresh application I wouldn't dare lay my head on my husband for fear of a grease stain on my hubby's shirt....this factor alone makes me want to end my relationship with the twisting cream. So once again if you ask me if I like the product I'm gonna say well.......yes and no

The twisting cream comes in a 8oz jar for 12 dollars and the ingredients include:Organic Aloe Vera Leaf Juice, Distilled Water, Avocado Oil, Organic Palm Oil, Emulsifying Wax, vegetable glycerin, Pathenol and more.

next up is the Juicy Peach Leave-in

Now my purpose for purchasing this product was because I didn't want to become a slave to the Kinky Curly Knot Today but as the saying goes don't fix it if it ain't broke lol I purchased these products in September,it is now march and I still have have 3/4 of a bottle, I hate to compare a new product to an old but hey it happens, I need alot more of this product to get the job done than I do of the KCKT and also it doesn't detangle as well the KCKT, but as far as smell goes I love the way this smells and unlike the KCKT the "peachy" smell lingers throughout the day which is what i love the most about this leave-in.

The Juicy Leave-in comes in a 8oz bottle for 12 dollars the ingredients include Distilled Water, Olive Oil, Yarrow leaf Extract,Sage Leaf extract, Nettle Leaf Extract, and Lavender extract just to name a few.

last but not least is the Madagascar Vanilla Styling Cream

I bought this cream because while I was doing my research I read that I could also use this as a twisting cream in conjunction with styling, and right of the back I'm not gonna lie, I just didn't like this Cream at all, for me its just greasy, and no moisturizing factors at all,but keep in mind its not for moisture it is for styling but using anything underneath it scares me because it tends to make the experience more greasy, but on a good note after a fresh hair cut my husband loves to put this on his head.

The Styling Cream smells like vanilla, it is not an overpowering smell at all, and as a plus it is also vegan. The cream comes in a 8oz bottle and is 12 dollars the ingredient list includes: Organic Palm Oil, Organic Aloe Vera Leaf Juice, Organic Madagascar Vanilla Extract, Emulsifying wax, and Castor Oil Just to name a few.

Thanks for reading,
